After having interpreters refer to me as a CODA a few times, I asked one of my professors what exactly comes with being a CODA. He said that it means I am a part of both cultures, but that wasn’t a good enough answer for me. I looked it up on the wikipedias and confirmed my suspicions. I DON’T FIT IN, BAWWWW!! There are even support groups for CODAs… what the hell man. In all seriousness, it makes a lot of sense. I’ve just been going through a cultural identity crisis my entire life!
I had previously written up a few paragraphs summarizing my experiences and etc but then I was like WOAH BRO this is a mini-blogging platform.
